Basmati is a special Asian type of rice. It is mainly grown in India and Pakistan. Its characteristic is that its eyes are white and elongated. Basmati is a particularly fragrant type of rice, as its name suggests, basmati=fragrant. Basmati rice - like other types of rice - does not contain gluten, so it is healthier than other grains. Basmati is considered the noblest long-grain rice variety.
It is healthier than white rice, has a high fiber content, contains more vitamins and has a lower glycemic index.
